Ethanol Buses soon a common sight on our roads?

Silversands Ethanol in exclusive partnership with Scania SA, has recently launched the first of many projects involving 100% Bio-Ethanol engines for public bus transport, an exciting pilot project, a first in Africa, in conjunction with Metro Bus as customer.

The initial project entails the first solely ethanol powered bus on the continent, which is currently successfully transporting passengers in the city of Johannesburg.

Scania has a long history of producing world-class engines, starting as far back as 1891.   Their ethanol bus engines have been in production for close on 20 years.  In 2007, Scania presented the bus of the future, a full-size low-floor pure ethanol city bus that cuts fossil carbon dioxide emissions by up to 90%.  These engines are based on diesel combustion, utilizing ED95 Ethanol Fuel as produced by Silversands Ethanol.
